The extension and refurbishment of an existing Volvo showroom required a new build extension to the existing workshop and the full strip out and refurbishment of the current sales and after sales facilities.
The existing dormer windows to the roof were stripped out, along with all the existing partitioning, flooring, ceilings, lighting, wall tiles, toilet cubicles, electrical and mechanical services ready for the new updated Volvo brand design to be installed.
The sales and aftersales staff were relocated into temporary office accommodation in an adjoining unit which was fitted out by Vanguard Contracts, prior to the main works commencing on site.
The roof was partially dismantled and reconstructed to accommodate new Velux windows with new structural steelwork installed around the perimeter of the building to take the new Volvo specification rendered finishes. Extensive demolition and structural steelworks were carried out inside the building to open up the showroom areas into what was previously the existing parts and after sales areas.
These facilities were relocated to a new mezzanine area installed by Vanguard Contracts located in the new build section of the workshop extension. A link building was installed to connect the existing workshop and showroom buildings to provide access to all of the areas from the showroom.
The fit-out of the showroom and the BOH facilities had new ceilings, stud partitioning, office glazing, general joinery, four new canteen areas, new welfare facilities including ceramic tiling and soft flooring throughout.
New electrical power, data, lighting, plumbing, ventilation, and AC services were installed to all areas. The new Volvo specification feature “Living Room” timber ceiling was installed to the showroom and customer area manufactured from slatted Ash ceiling panels.
A new full height fire protected glazed screen was installed to provide the customer with a full view of the newly fitted out workshop. New bifold, sliding doors were installed along with new pedestrian access doors and new showroom glazing was installed to the showroom areas.
The workshop was extended with new structural steelwork, roof, cladding and access doors, and a new mezzanine floor was installed to provide a new part and after sales area. This along with the existing workshop area were fully redecorated and had new ceramic wall and floor tiling installed.
New lighting was fitted along with new power service chased into the floor for the new workshop equipment, service ramps and MOT ramps. As part of the revised branding, a new Volvo technicians VPS wall was installed comprising of tool storage and power distribution for the car lifting equipment.
The existing WC facilities were completely stripped out and refurbished. All these works were completed whilst the workshop remained in operation requiring extensive programming and phasing of the works required.
Externally, we stripped out all the car demonstration area and replaced with new Volvo specification block paving and tarmac finishes. New trenching and electrical services were installed to provide power to the new EV charging stations and external signage.
New concrete bases were installed to provide fixing points for the new signage and vehicle charging stations. A new power feed was installed to accommodate the new incoming mains required for the EV charging which involved new trenching, power and a new housing. An entrance portal feature was installed following the new Volvo branding which required a new block paved entrance.
